ORA

Providing a wide range of services in the field of architecture and design is ORA, a Znojmo-based architecture studio with an abundance of various projects included in their portfolio – from original designer objects to urban studies, commercial and residential interiors concepts and construction studies.

The ORA studio was established in 2014 by Barbora Hora, Jan Hora and Jan Veisser. Barbora Hora graduated from the Academy of Arts, Architecture & Design in Prague, Department of Architecture, while the other two got their architecture degrees at the Technical University of Liberec. Different universities offer different views and concepts of architectural studies, which is why this young studio had a great starting position to look at architecture in many different ways, perceive and take into account the context of the original building, particular elements, the whole place or the whole street and take them all into account as one, fundamental element. The range of the projects designed and complemented by the ORA studio suggests that this studio is able to emphasize a single detail as well as the overall concept. The ORA studio operates throughout the Czech Republic. It specializes, however, in small cities and regions – designs "Original Regional Architecture". That is why the projects situated in or connected with the studio's home region – South Moravia – stand out from the portfolio the most. Regarding interior design and architecture, let us mention the reconstruction of a former school in Mikulov, which has changed the original, uninhabitable space into an extraordinarily spacious, stylish studio. In their concept, the ORA architects preserved all original elements including steel rods, which they put in the role of imaginary walls. Another significant project worth mentioning is Chatka, a winebar situated in Znojmo, whose main motif is based on an original cross vault and reflects into every corner of the new interior. Among other impressive projects of the studio are building reconstructions (Štajnhaus Pension in Mikulov, the wine cellar Modrák in Vrbovec, etc.) and also specific constructions such as the superstructure of a framed dormer that upgraded originally an ordinary house set on the shore of the Kyje pond in Prague to an impressive building with a shape inspired by the closest surroundings.
