Cafe Louvre

The magnificent Art Nouveau interior of Cafe Louvre with its unique atmosphere and rich history as well as excellent coffee, will have you returning time and time again.

The renowned Cafe Louvre was opened in 1902 and has always been one of the most significant cafes in Prague. It was visited by many world famous personalities, such as Franz Kafka, Karel Čapek and Albert Einstein, while it’s also important to note that several fellowships and organizations were formed there. However, the busy life of the cafe was interrupted by the communist regime. Louvre Cafe was reopened again only in 1992 after it underwent extensive renovations. Although the current look of the interior has changed compared to the original interior, the ceiling and wall decorations have been preserved from the 1930s. There is nothing more pleasant than starting the day with breakfast at Café Louvre – sit by the large windows and witness bustling Národní Street come to life in the morning. You can choose from a wide selection of breakfast menus or individual dishes, such as the Scrambled Eggs with smoked salmon, Prague ham, baked bacon or the Ham and Eggs, or the Fresh Fruit Salad and much more. Moreover, every morning Czech and international newspapers are at your disposal. If you do not manage a breakfast visit, stop by for lunch and choose from the daily lunch menu. At Cafe Louvre you can enjoy top quality espresso served in many different ways, e.g. with delicious fresh cream. It would be a sin not to taste the delicious cakes, tarts and pies prepared by local chefs according to traditional recipes. The café restaurant also offers the best of traditional Czech cuisine, vegetarian dishes, salads, sandwiches, and more. Visitors of the cafe have also five billiard tables, chess, dominoes, and puzzle games at their disposal.
