Rudolf Burda, of Mladá Boleslav, stands a head above other artists working with hand-blown and cast glass, as well as enamel, steel and stainless steel; he works not only with glass but also with metals.
Rudolf Burda is involved in art design of hand-blown and cast glass, and metal. In his studio Rudolf Burda creates his own metal tools and forms that he uses for the production of exclusive vases, glass objects and limited-series atypical lighting. Rudolf Burda prefers minimalist design, pure forms and geometric moderation. He is inspired by the aesthetics of cubism, functionalism, and constructivism, as well as by the micro and macro structures of nature. He places heavy emphasis on precise processing with the use of both traditional and most modern glass technologies. Rudolf Burda is also engaged in restoration works, and cooperates actively with the Czech Cubism Foundation, through which he participated in the refurbishment of old cubist chandeliers, metal radiator covers, and the fencing around Bauer's Villa in Libodřice designed by the famous Czech architect Josef Gočár. Glass objects by Rudolf Burda, complete with a certificate of authenticity, number, and author's signature can be found primarily at the DOX design shop, and Museum Kampa's art store.
