Whether you see their solitary designer objects, such as solid wooden tables or stools made of wooden lamellae, residential and commercial interior implementations, building reconstructions, construction concepts or urban studies, architecture and design presented by studio ORA will most definitely catch your eye.
Established in 2014 by Barbora Hora, Jan Hora and Jan Veisser, this Znojmo-based studio focuses on the revival of "Original Regional Achitecture." Although the ORA studio operates throughout the territory of the Czech Republic, it specializes mostly in small towns and regions. That is why the most outstanding projects designed and complemented by this studio are the ones located in or somehow connected with their home region of South Moravia. If you take a look at the wide spectrum of projects designed by ORA, you will see that this studio belongs among the most versatile ones, embraces challenges and turns them into successful solutions – the best example is the reconstruction of a 16th century building situated in Mikulov, which went under an enormous number of reconstructions over the centuries and became a disparate mixture of various styles and forms. The ORA studio managed to blend the original parts with the new ones, and unite the structure from the inside out. Today, Pension Štajnhaus is one of the most sought-after and finest establishments in the South Moravian Region. Similarly significant project is the interior of the Chatka winebar in Znojmo. The ORA architects turned an empty space with two cross vaults into a stylish and functional interior, whose main motif – a cross – is reflected in every piece of furnishing, decor, etc. Worth mentioning is the complete change of a former school in Mikulov, now a 140-square-meter hip studio. Barbora Hora graduated from the Academy of Arts, Architecture & Design in Prague, Department of Architecture, while Jan Hora and Jan Veisser got their architecture degrees at the Technical University of Liberec. Each university has a different concept of architectural studies and offers different views and discourses. Thanks to that, the ORA architects, a young, talented trio, focused on providing a complex range of services and linking the context of a building, its surroundings, history and key elements from the very start and is successfully holding to that thought to this day.
