Musaion Ethnographic Exhibition

The Musaion Ethnographic Exhibition in the beautiful Empire-style Kinský Summerhouse in the Kinský Garden lures its visitors to the traditional culture of Bohemia, Moravia and Silesia.

The Kinský Summerhouse was built between the years of 1827 and 1831 according to the plans of architect Heinrich Koch. The permanent ethnographic exhibition, which was nominated in 2007 for the European Museum of the Year award presents a picture of everyday life in the country, as well as festive moments in an 18th, 19th and first half of the 20th century village. The exhibition also features three workshops with presentations of folk crafts and handwork. In the museum also short-term exhibitions, courses of folk crafts and folk dances, performances of folklore troupes, art workshops, folklore concerts and seminars take place. In the museum shop you can buy traditional crafts and handmade products, stylish souvenirs and folk art, as well as scholarly texts on this topic. You can also relax in the stylish cafe that boasts outdoor seating with a beautiful view of the lush garden in the summer months. After the museum do not miss visiting the unique Carpathian Church of St. Michael the Archangel that was physically relocated to Prague in 1929 from Carpathian Ruthenia.
