City Gallery Prague

Municipal Library

The second floor of the Municipal Library building on Mariánské Square in Prague has been used as an exhibition space of the City Gallery Prague since 1992.

The Municipal Library building was built between 1925 and 1928 according to the project of architect František Roith. From the very beginning, the building was designed as a cultural institution with wide possibilities of use and comprised exhibition, lecture and concert halls that have been actively used until this day. The main entrance to the library and balustrade on the balcony are decorated with allegorical statues from Ladislav Kofránek. The interior was embellished with brass, artificial stone and travertine that also covers the facade of the building. You can get to the exhibition space of the City Gallery Prague on the second floor either through the main library entrance or via a side entrance from Valentinská Street, where you will also find a lift for barrier-free access. This side entrance was built in 1996 according to a design by architect Vlado Milunič. The gallery is open Tuesday through Sunday between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m.
