Children's Island in Prague is a great place to take your children whenever you are in the Smíchov or Old Town areas and have some time to let your children play at the local playground.
Children's Island lying along Janáčkovo Nábřeží between the Most Legií and Jiráskův Most bridges got its current name in the early 1960s, when a complex of children's playgrounds was built here. Until that time the island had many names and even disappeared several times due to floods. The island is divided from the land by a lock with two gates, which provides an interesting sight if a boat is going through. On the island you will find a small soccer field, skate park for bigger kids and ping pong tables. There is also a large fenced playground with fun playground equipment, such as slides, swings, and sandpits. Children will also love climbing nets and you will have a hard time luring them out of the wooden houses and boats, so we recommend you reserve enough time for a visit to the Children's Island playground. While your children are playing and enjoying themselves on this Prague island, you can sit and relax on a bench. If you have a dog, you should better leave it at home, as dogs are not allowed in the playground. On Children's Island you will also find the sought-after La Terrasa restaurant serving Catalan cuisine.
