Toulcův Dvůr that serves as a Prague center of environmental education aims to develop love of nature in small children.
The center focuses mainly on the environmental education of families with small children and aims to develop ecological awareness early in the life of children, so that they can grow into adults who will act responsibly towards Mother Nature. In practice the ecological education at Toulcův Dvůr, whose origin dates back to 1632, has a form of various activities for families with children, school programs, seminars for teachers and a mother's club, where children learn about healthy food, how they should treat animals and the like. The premises in Prague's Hostivař are comprised of several buildings and farm buildings with cattle, an eco-garden, a playground, lecture rooms and an exhibition gallery. In the local ecological consultancy center you can get free advice on home ecology and a healthy lifestyle. At the library you will find some 750 books on the topics of nature protection, ecology and pedagogy. The farm estate also includes various natural habitats including an alluvial woodland, a meadow, an alder grove and a wetland area. Toulcův Dvůr organizes various courses for children of all ages. They can attend a club where they take care of farm animals, horse-riding courses, clubs for creative children and more. During summer holidays children can take part in horse-riding camps for parents and children, and in the winter they can participate in ski camps. The farm with domestic animals is open to the general public every day from 8 a.m. till 6 p.m. for free.
