11.01.2016

Home Care (Domácí péče) was featured at the Palm Springs festival in the New Voice/New Visions category and the festival jury found the performance of Alena Mihulová in the role of a self-sacrificing nurse so impressive that it awarded her with the Best Actress Award. Given that Mihulová could not accept the prize in person, it was given to Slávek Horák, the director of Home Care. Also to this director went the prize of the Variety film magazine, which listed Horák in the prestigious 10 Directors to Watch chart for 2016. The Variety award ceremony was attended by the likes of Will Smith who received the Creative Impact in Acting Award and Charlie Kaufman who received the Creative Impact in Directing Award.

The Home Care movie, which stars top Czech actors and actresses including the above-mentioned Mihulová, Bolek Polívka, Tatiana Vilhelmová, Zuzana Kronerová and others, thus followed up in Palm Springs on its international festival success. Apart from the above-mentioned awards, the movie also received the Best Actress Award for Alena Mihulová for her role in Home Care at the prestigious Karlovy Vary International Film Festival, the Special Recognition Award at Festival International du Film d'Arras, the Young Audience Award at the Valladolid International Film Festival in Spain, the Film Distributors Award at the German Mannheim Internationales Filmfestival, and the Viewers' Award for the best foreign-language movie at the Vancouver International Film Festival.
