Thanks to the successful renovation of this historic palace on Valdštejnské Square in the Lesser Quarter, 17 refined premium apartments have been created. The reconstruction of a former blacksmith shop added another residential unit with a unique atmosphere.
Typical blacksmith clanging used to ring out from one of the courtyards of the palace, where a picturesque small house stood. Inventively reconstructed by the Formafatal architectural studio, the historic smithy house has been transformed into an atypical, bright one-bedroom unit. Its airiness is ensured by the living room that opens onto a landing with a bedroom reached via a steel staircase. “Other benefits future owners will enjoy include a spacious wardrobe and a private courtyard accessible from the living room,“ says Tomáš Blahuta, senior property consultant at Svoboda & Williams.
During the spring months, when the first owners moved into their new apartments, the investor finalized the common areas. Adhering to the overall style of VII. Dům, they are defined by attention to detail, the high quality of the materials selected, and exceptionally meticulous craftsmanship. “The common areas in VII. Dům are beautiful not just from an architect’s perspective. We focused our efforts on making their original elements shine through,” explains investor Marek Moudrý. “In the entrance hall, the architects ordered specially made wrought-iron lighting that copies the lines of the vaulted ceiling and creates a pleasant intimate atmosphere. The peaceful inner courtyard with greenery boasts a stone fountain that was brought here from South Bohemia with quiet, babbling water. We also paid close attention to the original roman numeral signs on each of the apartments. The best light to view them in is when the sophisticated lighting of the inner atrium comes on in the evening,” adds Moudrý.
There are still some studio to four-bedroom apartments available with variable layouts. The spacious units of the highest floors offer postcard views of Prague Castle and the St. Vitus Cathedral, while the smaller ones on the lower floors face a tranquil poetic courtyard. Still for sale is also an exclusive duplex with an almost 300 m² floor area designed by the SAD studio. “Those interested in living in VII. Dům can soak up its unique atmosphere during private viewings,”concludes Blahuta from Svoboda & Williams.
