At the end of September, in Prague’s Forum Karlín, Czech business, marketing, and media specialists met at the Fenix Awards ceremony. Selected by Svoboda & Williams, published twice a year, was the winner in the category Luxury – B2C magazine.
The amazing success of Svoboda & Williams’ B2C magazine is a milestone in its three-year history. Inspired by global luxury real estate brands, Svoboda & Williams began publishing its online magazine in the covid year of 2021. As its title—Selected—suggests, it presents a carefully curated lifestyle content that reflects the values and high standards of the Svoboda & Williams brand. “Our ambition is to create an aggregate for the domestic premium market,” explains Editor-in-Chief Tomáš Otta.
The first print special came out almost a year after the digital version of the magazine was launched. From the very beginning, the goal was to achieve a symbiosis of fresh content and cutting-edge visuals. “We mostly wanted the printed version of Selected by Svoboda & Williams to be developed in a subtle yet modern way and for its content to include primarily portraits of interesting personalities,” is how Svoboda & Williams’ Marketing Director Natálie Bartošová, who is also the magazine’s Art Director, describes its vision.
The first issue, with a cover designed by the painter Lucie Jindrák Skřivánková, was extremely successful, as was the second issue devoted to visionaries. Feedback from clients and the media, and the growing interest of premium advertisers prompted the editorial board to publish the magazine twice a year. “Winning a Fenix Award is proof that we’re on the right track and that we’ve created a product that has gained a unique position in the market. We are deeply grateful to have received this award,” Otta concludes.
Five print issues of Selected by Svoboda & Williams have been published to date, each with a compelling theme. The latest issue, which will be on the topic of art, will be unveiled in November at an event in designer Jan Plecháč’s studio.
