Situated off of bustling Wenceslas Square, this artist studio is a colorful world away from Prague. The walls of the apartment are covered with the bold and evocative paintings of Dominik Mareš, works that provoke your senses and emotions. If you are a collector of art, or simply wish to begin collecting investment pieces this is a good place to start. Born and raised in Ostrava Dominik Mareš started to paint when he was attending secondary grammar school (to be followed by a solo exhibition at the House of Art in Opava in 1992). His oldest paintings, created then in Ostrava reflect the city's raw industrial beauty; this raw beauty comes alive in his bold paintings that feature specific patterns and primitive pictograms. After graduating from the Faculty of Economics, Mareš moved to the city of one hundred spires where he would continue to exhibit his original work (including a solo exhibit with an extensive amount of works – over 90 paintings, at the National Technical Museum in 1997). His painting has also been heavily influenced by world travel and the exploration of new cultures, namely from the continent of Asia. Dominik Mareš has exhibited in four dozen solo exhibitions abroad and at home in the Czech Republic. It is also of interest that his works are part of private collections in more than twenty countries. Three of his canvases were also used for the American film Wanted; his paintings can be seen in interior scenes with Angelina Jolie and Morgan Freeman.
